Gary Blom was educated in Australia and his first role was at Qantas as a management trainee and since then he has created and scaled a number of companies in Australia and beyond. Gary Blom founded The Computer Company in 1978. It was a company that distributed international peripherals, software, and hardware across Australia. The Computer Company was the first sole distributor for microcomputers and personal computer in Australia for Panasonic and Mitsubishi.
In 1981, Gary Blom founded a software company, Attaché Software. For the past 37 years, the company has been in the business of serving companies’ accounting software. The focal point for Attaché Software was providing accounting software packages to small businesses for IBM and IBM compatible computers. Gary Blom had a close relationship with IBM in both Australia, Canada & the USA. He negotiated contracts with IBM to distribute software in the United States and Canada. Attache’ Software is one of Gary Blom’s early start up’s and is still operating in Australia’s software industry today .
Gary Blom has been involved in many business since Attache’ Software. He is currently an executive chairman at National Property Group and a director at Main Street Capital.
Main Street Capital is headquartered in Sydney Australia, and is a financial advisory firm that provides financial advisory and capital raising services for Australian and New Zealand companies wishing to enter the U.S market. He has been a director for over fourteen years and has assisted many Australian companies in accessing U.S capital markets. Overall, these years have been marked with various strides and achievements, helping over 40 companies succeed into the US marketplace.
Gary Blom’s key to scaling these companies involves a number of key skill, such as – sales and marketing, business administration, networking, developing new strategies, negotiation, and managing large teams. Gary is passionate about the challenges of business, particularly when it comes to executing sales strategies, raising funds to facilitate business growth, and maintaining relationships with both external and internal stakeholders of the company.
